The art of leather carving dates back last 5000 years. As a tool to exemplify creativity and skill, artisans carved for royalty as a means of individual, stylish expression. With each region of India renowned for a specific style and skill, the identity of the carved products, found prominence throughout the world through trade and commerce with foreign traders.
Today leather carving is a much smaller industry, and not well known or preserved. Our handcrafted leather products are all carved by hand, by an artisan squatting simply on a bare floor or at a wooden table. Hammer and chisel, they carefully plan out patterns and carve to precision. No two products are the same, and the unique nature of the carving makes each one different in pattern and color.
