About The Artisan

Vadivelu Kannan is a 33-year-old artisan, whose family lineage lies in jewelry making. Having learned the trade from his father, Vadivelu expected to live a good life but ended up in poverty. Every day he prays for change, living in misery with little to no business, and struggles with his existence. His family's dependence on him is his main reason to keep going.

Both of his sons have left abandoned their studies and left school to help him in the trade. He dreams of more transparency, a decent wage, and steady business.

Gaia Amore is committed to working with our partner to help Vadivelu and his family earn a steady wage, feel accomplished and regain pride in their work. We aim to work with Vadivelu in his community so that he too can give back to those who need it most.
